2. JOB PURPOSE The purpose of the role is to enhance the level of IT competence, confidence and skills of staff across the organisation to enable them to better perform their roles with a particular focus on the organisation's core software, new software, data quality improvement, IT security and helping create a digital culture.

The role will both support projects and new joiners as well as identifying broader IT educational needs, designing and creating educational material with delivery across multiple channels including traditional classroom training, deskside training, training via live video call, training videos, user guides and quick reference guides / FAQs.

Analysis of staff skills including needs/gap analysis as well as monitoring progress is core to fulfilling the purpose of the role.

The role is key to enhancing the profile and reputation of the IT department within the Hospital and Hospice and maintaining high visibility and physical presence within the organisation is necessary.

3. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE The IT service is provided by an on-site team and 3rd party managed services.

The role is one of a number of new roles to augment the existing team. The in-house team will comprise:

1. CIO 2. Head of IT Programme 3. Project Manager 4. IT Software Trainer 5. Head of IT Operations 6. Network Manager 7. Senior Cyber Security And Network Engineer 8. Service Support Team (x4) - 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineers providing desk-side support as well as having a broad range of IT skills in applications and infrastructure relevant to the hospital. 9. Applications Support Team (x3) - Application, development and data specialists. In addition to the in-house team, the hospital has a number of key outsourced services covering:

1. 1st line telephone / email support 2. Networking 3. Telephony 4. Hosted cloud services 5. Data Centre Operations (DR and Business Continuity) Comms 6. Citrix

4. ROLE OF DEPARTMENT Overall role is to provide:

1. Support and development of all IT systems, applicable to both infrastructure and applications. 2. To assist in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information assets by employing robust, best practices in the management and support of the network and supporting services.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST The responsibilities of the post include:

  • Designing, creating content for and delivering application software training programmes.
  • Presenting instructor-led training sessions.
  • Developing and delivering new courses for new and existing software applications, including all course materials, exercises and skills evaluations including the use of e-learning module and video development.
  • Liaising with software subject matter experts across the organisation as well as software suppliers and other members of the IT team to understand systems and local processes so as to be able to provide effective training to others.
  • Staying up to date with software training techniques and software relevant to producing training materials.
  • Providing IT software training for new joiners across the Hospital and Hospice as well as one-to-one training where appropriate.
  • Creating and communicating training schedules.
  • Providing training as part of software implementation projects.
  • Helping promote technology within the organisation and helping create a digital culture.
  • Creating content and delivering across multiple channels including traditional classroom training, deskside training, training via live video call, training videos, user guides and quick reference guides / FAQs.
  • Reviewing training materials and user documentation and keeping them up to date.
  • Assessing individual/group training needs including analysis of staff skills/needs.
  • Teaching staff to use common desktop programmes such as Microsoft Office.
  • Being part of promoting good IT security awareness.
  • Being part of promoting good data quality.
  • Organising and promoting courses.
  • Applying educational methods to engage trainees (e.g. gamification-based platforms).
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of each educational session and channel.
  • Conducting training needs analysis and define the skill sets needed to accomplish different roles.
  • Building relationships with heads of department, consultants and all end-users throughout the organisation.
  • Providing a physically present and visible presence to represent IT positively within the organisation to enhance the reputation of the department and improve the credibility of its service.
  • Engaging, educating and empowering staff to use technology across the organisation facilitating and promoting the effective use of data, information and technology across the organisation.
  • Providing, at all times, a professional and courteous service including professional appearance and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Other related duties may also form part of your roles such as providing input on software selection, software adoption, UX design, analysing the impact of new or upgrade software release and software testing.
  • Complete all hospital mandatory training as required in line with all other employees.
